Wake up sid Review :

Wake Up Sid

Director: Ayan Mukherjee (as Ayan Mukherji)
Writers: Ayan Mukherjee (story), Niranjan Iyengar (dialogue)

Stars: Ranbir Kapoor, Konkona Sen Sharma,

Movie Based Theme :

A spoiled young adult living in Mumbai experiences a change in his lazy ways when he meets a woman at a party, who inspires him to "wake up".

Siddharth "Sid" Mehra (Ranbir Kapoor) is the spoiled, carefree son of wealthy businessman Ram Mehra (Anupam Kher). A resident of Mumbai, his only interest is to have fun and spend his father's money. Thus, he spends little time at college and is not prepared for the final exams. His father, not being aware of this fact, tells Sid it is time to join his company, which Sid reluctantly does only after his father tempts him with the promise of a new car.
Sid meets Aisha (Konkona Sen Sharma), an aspiring writer. On their first meeting, they go out on a walk along the streets of Bombay. Sid shows her the city and takes her by the sea. They strike a chord instantly and a friendship ensues. Sid helps her to find and furnish her own apartment. She also lands a job with Mumbai Beat, (based on Time Out! Mumbai) a hip magazine run by the handsome editor-in-chief Kabir (Rahul Khanna). On the eve of her 27th birthday, Aisha invites Sid to her place. When Sid tentatively explores moving their relationship beyond friendship, he finds that Aisha perceives him as boyish and immature. Despite feeling hurt, he maintains his friendship with her.

When the exam results come out, Sid finds that he failed. His failure leads to an intense family fight that ends with him moving out. With nowhere to go, Sid (who has never been on his own) asks Aisha if he can stay with her. Aisha is initially happy to have the company. When she finds out he has not eaten all day, Ayesha is amused by the fact that Sid cannot cook and does not know how to feed himself. Sid leaves her place a mess and throws tantrums. Over time, Sid learns that to care for himself, he has to begin cooking and cleaning. He also realizes he must work, and Aisha helps him become a photography intern at the magazine she works for.
Aisha is ecstatic when Kabir selects her article for the magazine and asks her on a date. However, she realizes she does not have much in common with him. She then understands that she is in love with Sid. As Sid begins working, he finds meaning in life. He begins to see for the first time how his behavior has hurt his loved ones and that he needs to change his ways. After he is hired as full-time staff and receives his first paycheck, he meets his father. They reconcile and Sid's father asks him to come home. Sid, who often considers himself a burden on Aisha, tells her that he won't be dependent on her anymore and expects her to be thrilled. He doesn't realise that Aisha has fallen in love with him and thus is furious to hear that he is leaving. His departure is a hostile one.
When Sid returns home, he thinks constantly of Aisha, though he does not consider that she might share his feelings, since she told him they can only be friends. When the latest issue of Mumbai Beat arrives, Sid reads Aisha's column and is startled to discover that it is about her feelings for him. As it starts raining, he rushes to meet her at the same beach where they had gone the day they met. Sid expresses his love for her and the two embrace.

Story Theme

The film starts in the year 1990 when Iqbal Haroon Khan (Jackie Shroff) runs a circus – The Great Indian Circus – in Chicago, which has fallen on bad times. Anderson’s (Andrew Bicknell) bank - Western Bank of Chicago - which has lent money to Iqbal Khan, decides to close down the circus when he is unable to repay the loan. Young Sahir (Siddharth Nigam), the little son of Iqbal Khan, pleads with Anderson not to shut down his father’s circus as he and his father would soon be able to turn the corner. But Iqbal Khan’s presentation before the bankers and Sahir’s pleas don’t help. Iqbal Khan commits suicide in front of the heartless Anderson, leaving Sahir devastated.

Years later, Sahir (Aamir Khan) has still not forgotten the high-handedness of the bank and swears revenge. He robs various branches of Western Bank of Chicago, leaving behind a message in Hindi and a clown mask. He uses his acrobatic circus skills to escape. As Chicago Police Officer Victoria (Tabrett Bethell) failed to catch him, she calls ACP Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan) and his partner, Ali (Uday Chopra), for help in solving the case. Jai baits Sahir into robbing again by making it known he's on the case and he believes the thief is an amateur. Gathering information from a news channel regarding the plan, Sahir poses as an informant for Jai, and manages to gather information on the bank while giving Jai a lead to follow. Eventually, Sahir robs the bank and escapes, but Jai & Ali follow him. During the pursuit, Jai manages to shoot Sahir in the shoulder before he disappears again. Sahir has the big premiere of The Great Indian Circus with his female lead acrobat, Aaliya (Katrina Kaif), involving a trick with him disappearing in one place and showing up in another. The show is a success, but afterwards, Jai, Ali, and the police surround him, knowing he's the thief. Jai says the proof is the gunshot wound Jai inflicted in Sahir, but when Sahir is examined, there is no evidence of a gunshot wound anywhere in his body. Jai & Ali leave while Sahir retires to his dressing room. It's then revealed that Sahir has an autistic twin brother, Samar, who helps him pull off his trick and rob the banks, and it was Samar who sustained the gunshot wound. Cont.......
